Collagen I, II, III
Elexir Collagen Tablets contain three different types of collagen for a broader effect in the body. Collagen is a structural protein consisting of amino acids in varying compositions and builds up skin, bones and tendons, but also hair and nails contain collagen. There are 16 different types of collagen in our body, with types I, II and III being the most common. Type I is by far the most common and accounts for about 90%. Types I and III are mainly found in hair, skin, nails, muscles and bones, while type II predominates in joints and cartilage. To make collagen more bioavailable and easy for the body to absorb, it is hydrolyzed, i.e. broken down into shorter peptides.
Collagen production decreases with age
The body continuously produces its own collagen for all parts of the body that consist of collagen, but this ability unfortunately decreases with age, which can be noticed and felt in, for example, joints and skin. The body's own collagen production starts to slow down already in the age of 25 and when we pass 60+, the production has decreased by almost a third. One of the direct indications of reduced collagen production is that the skin becomes thinner, wrinkled and drier as almost 75% of the skin consists of collagen. For these reasons, many people choose to supplement the body with collagen from outside.
Supplemented with vitamin C, B2 and biotin
Vitamin C is vital for the body's own collagen formation to function normally and is therefore a very good complement to collagen. Vitamin B2 and biotin are added as these B vitamins contribute to normal hair and skin, complementing collagen and vitamin C. The product also contains the exclusive black pepper extract Bioperine® which increases absorption.
