Red clover
Red clover is a traditional medicinal plant that grows wild in meadows all over Sweden and is well known for its ability to help menopausal women. Red clover contains substances called phytoestrogens, which are substances similar to our own oestrogen and help to maintain a calm and comfortable menopause. Red clover helps women cope with the symptoms associated with menopause, such as hot flashes, sweating, restlessness and irritability.
Yam with diosgenin has been shown to relieve menopausal symptoms
Yam (Dioscorea villosa) has been shown to relieve menopausal symptoms. Yam has a long and well-documented history as a medicinal plant among South American Indians. The roots and tubers of the plant were found to contain an interesting substance called diosgenin. In the 1940s, the plant caught the interest of scientists and today it has been proven that yam contributes to a calm and comfortable menopause with a focus on relieving restlessness and irritability.
Balances hormones
Diosgenin contains precursors to what scientists call the "mother hormone" DHEA. The term "parent hormone" is used because DHEA can be converted into a number of hormones such as oestrogen, testosterone, progesterone and cortisol. Yam is one of the plants known to naturally contain the highest concentrations of phytonutrients - a substance needed for phytoestrogens to work optimally.
Borage oil - rich in the fatty acid GLA
Borage contains naturally high levels of gamma-linolenic acid (GLA). Normally, evening primrose oil and blackcurrant oil are talked about as good sources of GLA, but in fact, borage contains as much as 20% GLA, which is about twice as much as other sources of GLA. It is this high GLA content that makes borage so interesting for GLA-focused research.
Support of vitamin B6
Me-No! is supplemented with vitamin B6, which helps regulate hormonal activity. B6 also helps to maintain normal psychological function, normal energy metabolism and reduce fatigue and exhaustion.
