Function
Elexir MSM + vitamin C is a dietary supplement targeting collagen formation, energy metabolism and the immune system in the context of physical training.
Elexir MSM + vitamin C is a mix of the element sulphur and vitamin C. MSM (Methylsulfonylmethane) is a natural source of organic sulphur. Sulphur is present in every human cell and is in fact one of the more common elements in the body, with concentrations being highest in protein-rich tissues such as muscle, bone, cartilage, skin, hair and nails.
Sulphur
Sulphur is an element and is present in very high concentrations in the body. Sulphur enters our bodies mainly through the food we eat, but the process actually starts in the sea. In the sea, algae produce sulphur-rich substances that leave the water and rise into the air where the sun's rays convert these substances into MSM and other substances. In nature's cycle of sun and rain, MSM falls to the ground and is taken up by vegetation. When we then eat vegetables, fish, poultry, meat or eggs/dairy products, we ingest the sulphur.
The amount of sulphur varies
Meat has been found to contain a little more sulphur than vegetables, but whatever our food philosophy, our food provides us with the sulphur that every cell in the body needs. However, our sulphur stores can be affected by individual factors, such as how well we can digest protein and therefore how we absorb nutrients from our food. Similarly, certain medicines can affect the amount of sulphur, as can our age.
OptiMSM
We have chosen the purest sulphur product on the market, namely 100% OptiMSM®. It is an ultra-distilled MSM of the highest quality.
Vitamin C - the all-round vitamin
Vitamin C is an all-round vitamin for the active person. Vitamin C contributes to several important bodily functions, including normal collagen formation, which is important for the normal functioning of cartilage, bone structure and skin. Vitamin C also contributes to normal energy metabolism and to reducing fatigue and exhaustion, for example during exercise. At the same time, vitamin C contributes to the normal functioning of the immune system, even during and after intense physical exercise.
