Rose Red
One of the most documented adaptogenic plants with several amazing properties that have made it a highly valued ingredient in dietary supplements for many years. Rose root is a plant that gets its name from the fact that the root of the plant has a lovely scent of roses. Rose root thrives best in colder climates and therefore grows in our Swedish mountains. Rose root is considered to have properties that support the body both mentally and physically in connection with stress, which can contribute to increased energy and well-being. Rose root acts quickly in the body and most people feel the effect within 30-45 minutes.
Rose root contains several active substances, two of the best known being rosavins and salidroside. Elexir Rose Root contains a standardized highly concentrated extract with 1% rosavins and 1% salidroside.
Characteristics
Being an adaptogen, Rose Root has several amazing properties that have been discovered through long term use but above all through research. Rose root is perfect for those who exercise a lot as it contributes to increased strength and fitness but also for those who need focus and mental sharpness. Rose root also contributes to normal blood circulation, which helps the body supply the cells with oxygen and nutrients. Rose root helps the body manage fatigue and stress (both physical and mental) which can facilitate many different parts of our everyday life.
Stress in everyday life
Stress is basically a positive thing, as it is the body's way of mobilizing energy and strength for a test where we need to perform a little extra. But... if we don't get any rest in between, but are more or less permanently in a stressful situation, both our "body and mind" become exhausted. The experience of stress is very individual. For some, it may be a project at work that has to be completed by a certain date, for others it may be a possible conflict situation with their partner or boss. It can even be something as mundane and recurring as picking up and dropping off at the kindergarten. Stress can make us low on energy, which many people "cure" with caffeine in the form of coffee or energy drinks. An alternative to caffeine that provides a softer, natural energy that balances the body is the adaptogen Rose Root.
What is an adaptogen?
Adaptogens is a collective name for plants and fungi containing certain bioactive substances that affect the body's ability to adapt to physical, chemical and biological stress. The name adaptogen comes from the English word "to adapt". Adaptogens normalise and optimise the body's functions to create balance, they do not stimulate a function to its upper limit. They therefore do not work in the same way as central stimulants, such as caffeine, which have a lower effect the more you use them and which stimulate even when you are in balance. Adaptogens have the same effect continuously without you having to gradually increase the dose to get the same effect as at the beginning. They are also not addictive.
Some of the best known adaptogens are Rose Root, Ashwagandha, Russian Red, Schisandra and Reishi. To be called an adaptogen, there are certain criteria that the plant or fungus must meet:
- The effect must be general and broad, in that it improves resilience to a wide range of stressors of a physical, chemical and biological nature.
- They should have a normalizing, i.e. restorative, function.
- Adaptogens should be harmless and have a broad therapeutic effect with minimal or no interference with normal biological processes.
Vitamin B5 and Bioperine®
Elexir Rose Root is supplemented with vitamin B5 (pantothenic acid) and the black pepper extract Bioperine®. B5 is added as it helps to maintain normal mental performance and reduce tiredness and fatigue. Bioperine® is a patented black pepper extract with as much as 95% piperine, which increases the bioavailability, or absorption, of certain herbs and nutrients.
